Adult Stem Cell Therapy & Platelet Rich Plasma
PRP Partial Ligament Tears
Dr. William Bennett offers some of the most innovative orthopedic treatments for patients in the Sarasota area – many of which aren’t available from any other providers in the region. As one of the top orthopedic surgeons in Sarasota, Dr. Bennett has been committed to providing the latest and best in orthopedic care and minimally invasive treatments to his patients. Among these therapies is the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments, which Dr. Bennett was one of the first orthopedic surgeons to use.
Dr. Bennett now uses PRP to help reduce recovery times in surgical procedures, improve joint function and quality of life in patients with articular degeneration, and support other novel treatments such as using stem cells to re-grow damaged cartilage in joints.
The orthopedic applications of PRP have a great deal of potential, and Dr. Bennett has been using PRP for several years. Platelets are naturally produced by the body and carry growth factors, proteins, and enzymes through the bloodstream to help repair damaged tissue. By selectively applying PRP injections at the site of orthopedic surgery, Dr. Bennett can help reduce recovery times and ensure better success rates for his patients.
The procedure for treating an injury or chronic condition with PRP is minimally invasive and quick. First, 400 ccs of blood is drawn from the patient. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets to up to eight times their original amount. The concentrated platelets are then injected into the injury site. Dr. Bennett uses ultrasound to guide the injection to precisely the correct location in order to ensure maximum benefit to the injury.
PRP can be used to augment surgical procedures such as rotator cuff tears in the shoulder, but it also has a number of non-surgical applications that Dr. Bennett has used with a great deal of success. Often, when ligaments, cartilage, tendons or other connective tissue is damaged or has deteriorated due to injury or arthritis, targeted injections of PRP at the site of the injury can successfully treat the condition. Some of the conditions that can be successfully treated with PRP include:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Chronic sports injuries such as Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow
- Cartilage injuries
- Acute ligamentous injuries
PRP is surprisingly affordable – particularly when one considers the high rates of success it offers. Dr. Bennett’s office offers PRP treatments that are typically less than a thousand dollars. And with Dr. Bennett, patients enjoy the security of knowing they are being treated by one of the top orthopedic surgeons in Florida. Dr. Bennett’s primary concern is ensuring his patients’ safety and satisfaction. If you or someone you know is suffering from a condition that could be improved with platelet-rich plasma surgery, contact Dr. Bennett’s office today to find out how he can help.
Please be aware the PRP Procedure price DOES NOT include the office visit or the ultrasound. Most insurance companies do NOT typically pay for PRP procedures. We will bill your insurance company for the office visit (99213 or 99214) and the ultrasound (76681). If your insurance should apply any amount of those charges to patient responsibility (copay, coinsurance, deductible, etc.) then you will be responsible for those charges. The price of the PRP covers the cost of the PRP kits, Centrifuge, processing, Local Anesthesia, Phlebotomist and the actual procedure of injecting the Platelet Rich Plasma.
